It was announced this week that English television broadcaster ITV will present a new show called Bingo Night Live hosted by Melinda Messenger and Michael Underwood. The show will run five nights a week, from Tuesday to Saturday, with an initial jackpot of £50,000.

“It’s the nation’s favorite game and accessible for all,” presenter Melinda Messenger commented. “It’s good, clean fun and easy to play and it’s free. It does not cost you a penny to play.” The show will feature selected interviews, behind the scene clips and special spaces for players to get involved in the program.

Several Canadian charities have been benefited by a program that allows them to volunteer their time at a bingo center in exchange for a percentage of the profits. This week, the charities that took part in the program over the past year received a cheque for $1.448.972 from the hands of Barrie MPP Aileen Carroll.

“I want to thank the volunteers because the result of your work and the impact your work has on so many charities here in Barrie is astounding,” Carroll said during the ceremony. Currently, four bingo parlors are part of this pilot project, including the Boardwalk Gaming Center.

An amateur Bingo player from England took advantage of his beginner’s luck this week and took home a £24,000 prize (approximately 30,000 euros) playing at the local Bingo club.

The lucky winner is a 49 year old man, named Paul Ian Smith, a resident of the city of Hull in the East part of Yorkshire in England. He was touched by the magic wand when he was playing the game of Bingo with his girlfriend for the fist time at Hull’s Mecca Bingo club in Clough Road.

UK Bingo operators believe the new advert that promotes the National Lottery’s Flamin’ Hot Bingo scratchcard offends the traditional bingo industry, which is going through a tough time due to government policies.

The ad features the image of an elderly woman on her mobility cart in front of a bingo venue with a “closed” sign. With the sound of a scratchcard, the image changes to the same lady with modern clothes in a Miami-style beach, speeding off on her enhanced, powerful scooter.

Bingo fan takes home a £39.000 jackpot
