A Romanian woman was so keen to play bingo that she left her baby in the back of a taxi.

Cabbie Toader Versan thought someone had left a pet in his car when he heard a noise coming from the back.

Mr Versan, from Cluj, stopped and found it was a baby, reports Adevarul newspaper.

He called the police and, after searching for clues to the mother, he remembered
taking a woman to a bingo club.

Casino giant to gamble on law change

American casino opera-tor Isle of Capri is taking a gamble .... by applying to open the largest casino it can under current laws at Coventry’s new Arena.

The riverboat casino giant from Biloxi, Mississippi has lodged an application with Coventry’s licensing magistrates today. Capri hopes to turn it into the UK’s first regional super-casino when new gaming laws are passed.

To show its commitment, Capri is going to fit out the entrance lavishly with waterfalls and escalators suitable for the larger casino.

The great casino merge is gearing up

The great merge will occur in the upcoming days if Shareholders from Harrah’s and Caesars Entertainment voice their support on this enterprise.

The prominent Grand Casinos in Mississippi might soon be renamed if Harrah Entertainment will eventually adopt their parent company. About 400 people are employed in Caesars which has a Mid-South headquarters in Gulfport and Harrah owns regional offices in Memphis.

TAMPA - The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino will add 225 slot machines, replacing its high-stakes bingo parlor, which had helped put the tribe on the gaming map.
The gambling facility closed the bingo hall on Feb. 20, sealing off the area where gamblers played games for payoffs as high as $125,000.

Some patrons were angry that bingo is now gone.

``Bingo made this place, and they forget that,'' Annette Elliott, an independent title researcher from Tampa, said Tuesday as she played the slot machines at the casino.

A Pennsylvania resident was recently placed under arrest for attempting to use a counterfeit $100 bill at a Shippensburg bingo hall.

A bingo staffer at the Shippensburg Firefighters Activity Center called police after receiving the fake $100.

The 48-year-old woman was arraigned on forgery charges as well as for theft by unlawful taking and theft by deception.

Bingo gets vote of young women

Bingo is increasing in popularity among younger women who are attracted by its relaxed atmosphere according to a popular gaming group.

Gala Group, the privately owned bingo and casino operator, said it had seen buoyant trading over the Christmas period with like-for-like sales for the seven weeks to January 7 rising by 5.9%. Total group sales rose by 6.9% to £71.5m.

Bingo halls unite to raise money for tsunami fund

An Ulster-based bingo company will hold a record-breaking game to raise money for victims of the tsunami.

Lucky's Bingo Group's 11 halls - based throughout Northern Ireland - will unite tomorrow night to take part in what promises to be the largest event of its kind in the province.

The charity event boasts a £10,000 payout, and will be supported by major bingo halls including Empire, Strand and Westway.

Thailand Launches Investigation Into Gambling Accusations

"Police and military officials working in the Thai-Cambodian border area today launched an investigation into claims that nine Thai gamblers had cheated casinos in the Cambodian town of Poi Pet of over Bt90 million, ($2.3 million) a claim which the gamblers have consistently denied.

"The team of officers from the Thai-Cambodia Border Office ...travelled to Poi Pet this morning, but were refused access to the nine Thai accused, with Cambodian police officers saying they first needed clearance from the head of the Cambodian police force.
